RECYCLE 4 A REASON

Cynthia Jaedike heads up a team of recyclers who use seconds, misdyed, and mill end yarn and fibers to create hats for chemotherapy patients, premature baby hats and blankets, and warm clothing for orphanages and homeless shelters.  Their nationwide group of ladies work hard to make beautiful items out of less than desirable textiles to help keep textiles out of landfills.

Recycle 4 a Reason has nearly 150 members from all around the world.  They have about 30 members who are participating in a spring group charity knitting project, and 20 others who are committed to private charity knitting causes that link in with us as group members.  We represent the following charities at this time:

Carle Foundation Hospital NICU preemie items
Beth Israel Hospital NICU, Precious Awareness, preemie items
Heavenly Hats, Green Bay, WI, chemotherapy hats
Mittens for Akkol, mittens, sweaters, scarves, hats, orphanage in Russia
Crafters for a Charity, a monthly rotating charity project via a yahoo group
Women for Women, a Maryland charity
Flasher, ND Helping Hands Homeless Shelter
Chemotherapy Clinic in Wilmington, CA
Chemotherapy Clinic in Pitcairn, PA
and other individual causes

Cangles, LLC is proud to support OurEarth.org. The website began as a simple idea to make it easier for the public to find environmental information.  There are outstanding environmental programs, activities, initiatives, ideas, and grassroots efforts across the country but it can be difficult to sort through all of the websites and information available.  As a result, important natural resources, energy savings, and pollutant reductions are lost each and every day, causing unnecessary damage to our planet.
OurEarth.org, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit environmental organization that was founded in 2006 by several recent graduates of Johns Hopkins University. Today, OurEarth.org is led by an all-volunteer team of graduate and medical students as well as environmental experts and leaders from around the country. The organization also involves undergraduate and graduate students from over 40 U.S. college campuses.
Our dual-purpose mission fills the needs of helping to conserve resources and feeding people in need. Recyclables are still being discarded today, and we can use them to buy food. With the cash value (and cash return value) of the many recyclables still being discarded today, the amount of funds available is tremendous. With wise use of these funds there should be no need for anyone to go hungry. Join with us to help people in need and help save our planet!
Oceana, founded in 2001, is the largest international organization focused solely on ocean conservation. Our offices in North America, Central America, South America and Europe work together on a limited number of strategic, directed campaigns to achieve measurable outcomes that will help return our oceans to former levels of abundance. We believe in the importance of science in identifying problems and solutions. Our scientists work closely with our teams of economists, lawyers and advocates to achieve tangible results for the oceans.
EarthEcho International's programs are dedicated to the legacy of Philippe Cousteau Sr.; a legacy of devotion to the conservation and restoration of the oceans and one that can be shared by all people. Sadly, the last 50 years has seen the greatest amount of destruction of our Oceans, bringing us to a current state of crisis. However, we believe that it is the next 50 years in which we can embrace the new promise of a just, healthy, and abundant water planet. In order to achieve this, a whole new generation must take action to restore and protect our water planet.
Philippe Cousteau is the 30 year-old son of Jan and Philippe Cousteau Sr., and the grandson of Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau. As a member of the legendary family, Philippe is continuing the work of his father through EarthEcho International (www.earthecho.org), the non-profit organization he founded with his sister and mother and of which he serves as CEO.
